Finnish sculptor Ari Aaltonen (Tiregeni3) creates monumental, anatomically nuanced fine art sculptures entirely from discarded vehicle tires. By combining surgical cold-cutting techniques with heavy steel and timber armatures, he coaxes fluid muscle, windblown manes, and mythic spirit from vulcanized rubber—without melting, toxic fumes, or compromising structural integrity.

A distinctive sculptural approach founded on structural engineering, zero-toxic emissions, and anatomical reverence.
Melting rubber destroys its tensile memory and emits harmful toxic carcinogens. Ari Aaltonen uses strictly cold mechanical methods: hand-cutting, feathering, and flexing steel-belted radial casings to build tensioned organic curves with surgical precision.
Backed by 18 years in industrial machine assembly, every monumental work is built over an engineered internal skeleton of heavy structural timber or custom metal framing. Sculptures are structurally sound to survive high winds, heavy snow loads, and public interaction.
Each tire used carried real human journeys across thousands of highway miles before retirement. By repurposing this indestructible modern byproduct into lions, dragons, eagles, and mythic beasts, industrial waste is elevated into timeless narrative power.
Born in Lieto, Finland, Ari Aaltonen spent 18 years mastering the exacting tolerances of industrial manufacturing at Macring Oy—assembling sheet-metal roll forming machinery, operating lathes, precision mills, and MIG welders.
Seeking a wider canvas, Ari channeled his mechanical genius into large-scale experiential art, spending 6+ years traveling and volunteering across the United States, Spain, Portugal, and Colombia. As lead builder and artistic force at Fellowship of Art, he pioneered monumental tire sculpture over heavy structural timber skeletons—transforming discarded commercial tires into towering guardians, architectural dragons, and expressive creatures that now grace private collections across the United States, Kenya, and Portugal.
Guided by the conviction that all art is in some aspect a self-portrait, Ari works between Finland and international commissions, creating both autonomous gallery masterworks and monumental public installations.
Open for representation with contemporary art galleries, museum exhibitions, outdoor sculpture parks, and private architectural commissions worldwide.
